This trip ended a bit unexpectedly, but was fun nonetheless. The Cottonwood Lakes loop is a well-traveled trail that meanders through three different park systems in the Sierra Nevada. We planned on hiking into the namesake lakes to acclimate for a couple of days, and then summit nearby Mt. Langley (the southernmost peak over 14,000 feet in the U.S.). Unfortunately, Steve and Jason got splitting headaches from the altitude, and we booked it back to the car shortly after setting up camp the first day.
