The Rae Lakes Basin lies in the Eastern Sierras and is accessed by a 12 mile slog over two high passes (Kearsarge and Glen). We planned this trip as an “intro to backpacking” orientation for a few newbies, but it turned out to be a little harder than anticipated. Sorry.
Jason forget the reels to his fishing poles, but thanks to Keith we were able to improvise and Steve eventually caught a fish using twine and a grasshopper (supplied by Lakshan). A true team effort.
Scott discovered that he is prone to altitude sickness, and Norma discovered that sharing a tent with Scott is not as romantic as she had hoped.
