Fishing for tuna is characterized by highs and lows. The 8 hour-long ride out to the fishing grounds is definitely a low. The throwing up is a low. The coffin-sized bunk that smells like rotting feet is definitely a low. But when a 30 lb. albacore hits your sardine at 25 mph, that is a high that makes it all worthwhile. The fresh sashimi at the end of the trip… well that’s just icing on the cake.
