Anza Borrego Desert is a dusty bowl of nothingness. It bakes a couple hours east of San Diego County, and I really wouldn’t recommend visiting unless you have a fondness for sterile moonscape. Actually, I hear that the annual wildflower bloom is worth checking out, but we apparently missed it. We did find some giant caterpillars, and a remarkably tame iguana. If you’ve got some hard liquor and firewood, and a weekend to kill, I guess you could do worse.
